The architecture of Sciacca is rich of many medieval monuments of the sixteenth century as of Baroque sights. They are very valuable and a good example is the Church of “San Nicolò La Latina” (picture on the left). There are many other important churches like the thirteenth century “Raccomandata church”, the “Perollo” Palace, the “Steripinto”, The “Pardo” Tower, and “Santa Margherita” typical of the 15th -16th century architecture. The “Steripinto”, with its façade of diamond faceted ashlars, is one of the most important examples of the rare “plateresca” architecture. Some very typical characteristics of Sciacca are its view on the sea and its walls that are still intact for one third of them. On these walls there are still the three original 16th century doors to the town: “Del Salvatore”, “San Calogero” and “Porta Palermo”.
